BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Pathways Academy Charter School is authorized by Warner Unified School District.  Per the Charter, we are authorized to serve all students that are at least 16 years or older.

PATHWAYS ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS

Tom Schaaf, Chair

Tom Schaaf served in education for over 35 years in the Sweetwater Union School District before finally retiring. During those years, he taught every type of course in both math and science at the Junior High, High School and Adult School levels. He was also a coach, community volunteer and school administrator. As an administrator, he was able to work with and evaluate teachers across all academic curriculum areas. He enjoyed working with teachers, students and their families in the Sweetwater District and was voted both Teacher of the Year as well as Administrator of the Year.

Since retiring, Tom continues to serve the community through various volunteer programs as well as serving on the Pathways Academy Adult Education School Board. He is excited for this opportunity and looks forward to working with the Board to continue to grow the program.

Charlie Padilla, Vice Chair

Charlie Padilla has worked in education for over 30 years. He taught second, fifth and sixth grades in the South Bay School District from 1978 to 1987.  He then served as Assistant Principal in the South Bay School District as well as principal in the Chula Vista School District and served at four different schools from 1998 to 2010.  During this time he was recognized as Elementary Administrator of the Year, by the Association of California School Administrators, San Diego in 2003, and California Distinguished School Principal in 2005.

Retiring in December of 2010, Charlie currently serves as a Student Teaching Supervisor at the University of San Diego in the School of Leadership and Educational Sciences.

Robert Daily, Board Member

Robert has devoted over thirty years to the field of education, beginning his career as a classroom teacher across grade levels from third through eighth. Most of his career was spent with the South Bay Union District but originally began in the state of Iowa.  His passion for fostering student growth and achievement led him into school leadership, where he served as principal for twenty years at two different schools in South Bay. During his time, he guided staff and students with a focus on high expectations and equity, including leading a ‘No Excuses University’ campus committed to preparing all students for college and career success. 

Now enjoying retirement, Robert continues to be active as a thirty-six year member of the San Diego County Basketball Officials Association, and part-time employee of the San Diego Padres and Enagic Golf Club. These activities allow him to continue a commitment to teamwork, discipline and community involvement.
